Android - OpenVPN


Here you can find setup information for your chosen VPN and also how to fix any problems you might encounter.

You can use the Table of Contents on the right hand side of this window to navigate between the different sections.

You must have a Residential VPN account to use this service.


Install Guide


Step 1

  • Go to the Google Play store
  • Make sure that Files by Google is installed
  • This is needed to extract the Zip file with the configurations in
  • There is also a direct link to the Files by Google App below:




Step 2

  • Go to the Google Play store
  • Install OpenVPN Connect
  • There is also a direct link to the OpenVPN Connect App below:




Step 3

  • From the 'My Services' section of the Client Area, link below
  • Retrieve your VPN username & VPN password
  • Tap Download OpenVPN Configuration Files


Please note, the below is a screenshot of the Client Area. Use the link above, to access the Client Area.




Step 4

  • VPN Configuration files will download
  • Tap Open on the 'File downloaded' prompt




Step 5

  • Files by Google will open
  • You will be prompted to extract the VPN configuration Zip file
  • Tap Extract




Step 6

  • Select Delete Zip File
  • Tap Finished




Step 7

  • Start the OpenVPN Connect App
  • Tap the burger-icon, 3 horizontal lines, top left
  • Tap Import Profile
  • Tap Upload File




Step 8

  • Make sure Upload File is selected
  • Tap Browse at the bottom of the window




Step 8

  • Go to your Downloads folder
  • Tap the BT-xxx folder, that you extracted with Files by Google




Step 9

  • You will see 6 VPN profiles, use landscape mode if needed to see the full name
  • Port 1, 2, 3 are labelled 'Performance', these are typically the fastest
  • Port 4, 5, 6 are labelled 'Fallback', these may be required from some restricted locations
  • We recommend you experiment, to see which works best for you
  • Port 1 - Performance, is a good place to start
  • Tap on a VPN profile to import that option




Step 10

  • Tap OK to import the VPN profile




Step 11

  • Enter your VPN Username
  • Enable Save Password
  • Enter your VPN Password
  • Tap Connect at the bottom of the window




Fixing Problems

User Authentication Failed


This usually means you have a mistake in the VPN username or the VPN Password.

Retrieve your VPN username and VPN password from the 'My Services' section of the Client Area:

  • Then, stop the VPN from reconnecting, by moving the slider to Off
  • Tap the pencil icon, next to the VPN option
  • Correct the VPN username and/or VPN password
  • Save, top right
  • Try and move the VPN slider to On again
